Our Shea Butter is Certified Organic and is used in both our ‘SOUL BALM’ & ‘BEARD’ Balm.
Shea Butter is obtained from the Shea-Karite Tree (or Shea Tree) which is native to West Africa. It is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F, and is said to offer a mild sun protection factor (approximately SPF 6).
Shea Butter is rich in fats, making it a fantastic moisturiser for dry and ageing skin, and is commonly used for the treatment of various skin conditions such as dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema and blemishes. It is also useful in helping to reduce the appearance of scars, hives, rashes, fine lines and wrinkles, whilst strengthening, protecting and regenerating the skin. Experiments show that it also possesses anti-inflammatory properties.
We use Certified Organic Coconut oil in our SOUL BALM & ‘BEARD’ Balm.
Coconut oil is fast becoming a household staple for its multiple uses from skincare, to haircare and cooking!
Naturally antibacterial and antifungal, Coconut oil also contains Vitamin E, essential amino acids, and lauric and caprylic acid which form part of the barrier function of your skin and help maintain your skin’s natural flora. Beautifully moisturising and good enough to eat, we are nuts for coconuts!
Beeswax is a natural product secreted by the glands of the honeybee (Apis Mellifera) and is used by the bees to build their honeycombs.
You will find beeswax in our SOUL BALM & ‘BEARD’ Balm as it helps to give our balms a solid texture. It is also a wonderful moisturiser and has a rich vitamin A content and emollient properties, which soften and rehydrate the skin.
Beeswax is also naturally antibacterial and is well known for it’s skin healing benefits.
Our beeswax is Pharmaceutical grade – Complies with BP (British Pharmacopoeia).
We love bee’s and everything they do, so we are currently working with a local beekeeper to provide a more sustainable and organic approach to using this magical resource!
Used in our natural baby balm, Organic hemp seed oil contains high levels of linoleic and alpha-linoleic essential fatty acids which moisturise and nourish the skin and assist in keeping irritants out. Hemp seed oil has been shown to be helpful for skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
Hemp is a wonderfully sustainable resource which is highly resistant to drought and insects so requires little water and no pesticides. It also removes more c02 from the air than trees do! We love all hemp products, from the oil, to seeds and material.
We use Bentonite clay in our ‘EARTH’ dry face mask and tooth polish mix.
Bentonite Clay is used extensively in the personal care and cosmetic industries, and even the pharmaceutical industry, as well as popular use in spa treatments due to its abundance of minerals and therapeutic benefits.
Amazingly Calcium Bentonite Clay was one of the components that were used to bury the Chernobyl reactor as a protective barrier and victims were bathed in the clay to neutralize radiation.
Used in a facemask, our food grade bentonite clay helps draw out impurities and cleanse the skin.
We use Activated Coconut Powder made from 100% coconut husks in our ‘EARTH’ dry face mask kit.
Paired with Bentonite clay, this mix is a natural powerhouse for eliminating toxins and cleansing the skin.
The powder works by trapping chemicals and toxins in its porous surface which contain millions of tiny pores. The toxins are then wiped away when the mixture is removed.
Use also as a wonderful tooth polish to whiten your teeth!
All of our charcoal is medicinal grade.
Our Calendula & Rose Petal ‘SALT’ contains 100% natural occurring Epsom Salt (magnesium sulphate) which has been sourced from underground deposits in Germany, which is one of the few places where you will find naturally and derived raw materials for Epsom Salts.
Epsom salt is wonderful for treating skin inflammations, reducing joint aches and pains, reducing severity of colds and flu and assisting with better sleep.
The Epsom Salt we choose to use is 100% Natural Food Grade.
We source organic calendula and rose petals from Australian Growers to use in our ‘SALT’ bath soak.
Roses have been used in skin care and in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Roses have therapeutic benefits that relax the body, reduce stress and promote glowing skin. Rose petals contain natural oils and sugars that will lock moisture into dry skin cells.
Calendula petalsare renowned for their ability to reduce redness, itching and topical inflammation and help to soothe and repair the skin.
